Groom Team England, a team of experienced groomers based in the UK, took grooming to the next level on 20 September 2009 by winning third place in the World Dog Grooming Championships. The team of five made their way to Dachau, Germany where the competition was held & raced to Third Place beating the other finialists including Australia, Canada, Spain, Germany, Italy, Austria, Switzerland, Holland & Belgium. The winning country was USA with France coming second.
The following competed in the four classes -
- Alison Rogers with an English Springer in the Spaniel & Setter Class
- Peter Ensell with a Kerry Blue in the Pure Bred Scissored Class
- Jitka Krizova with a Welsh Terrier in the Hand Strip Class
- Su Eld-Weaver with a Standard Poodle in the Poodle Class
With Joanne Angus as Team Captain & Zoe Duffy as Reserve
Groom Team England had all the bases covered when competing against other profesisonal groomers from all over the world.
Being the second grooming team to represent England in this competition
Groom Team England was lucky enough to have the support of fellow groomers who travelled to Germany to watch the team in action. Those who were unable to attend event followed the team's progreeson social networking sites such as Facebook, which were regularly updated.
This is the first time
Groom Team England have been placed in the World Championships & the team now look forward to attending the next event with a view to securing FIRST place in two years time & hope that all England is behind them.
